Worship Team: Principles and Responsibilities

PRINCIPLES OF WORSHIP
People are created in God’s image and for his glory. Therefore, we must have within us Holy Spirit-empowered talents, abilities and gifts that must be nurtured and released. Worship is a means through which these Spirit-empowered attributes are expressed.

• People find worth, purpose, and direction from an intimate knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ, the only true God. Worship is one of the main ways in which we grow in knowledge and in a relationship with God.

• Worship is one of the main vehicles through which God brings his healing love, infinite grace, and restorative power.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF WORSHIP TEAM MEMBERS
• PERSONAL WORSHIP: Spend personal time with God in worship and prayer away from upfront ministry. We cannot lead others where we have not gone ourselves. Every musician, singer and technician must have a love for praise and worshipping the Lord.

• CONTINUED GROWTH: Actively improve your craft (guitar, keyboard, bass, vocals, drums, sound, etc.).

• PREPARATION: Be spiritually ready and musically prepared to lead in worship. This includes being a person of character and moral uprightness.

• CHURCH OWNERSHIP: Support City Life Church through regular attendance and giving of time, talents, and treasures. All City Lifers are urged to participate in: 1) Sunday morning, 2) a Life Group, 3) a ministry team. Worship team members must consider City Life his or her home church. Worship team members are expected to be at City Life even on Sundays when he or she is not scheduled to be on the team.

• REHEARSALS: Team members are required to attend weekly rehearsals. If you are unable to attend for an emergency, illness, or other extreme situation, please alert the Team Leader ASAP. Failure to attend rehearsal may require you to miss the upcoming Sunday’s worship.

• COMMUNICATION: Communicate honestly and openly with one another (Matthew 18). If you have an issue with someone on the team, please go to that person and settle it one-on-one. If a one-on-one meeting is not successful, please involve the Team Leader.

• PROBATIONARY PERIOD: All new members of the worship team will be subject to a 2-week probationary period.

• PUNCTUALITY: Team members must be on time for rehearsals and Sundays. Team members who continually disregard starting times for rehearsals and Sundays will be put on probation.
